Our contributors record ways of dwelling, building, adapting, and moving through the region, attending to architectural irregularities, everyday encounters, and vernacular forms of ingenuity. This collective listens to the absent as much as the present, reading space as informal, precarious, self-built, and incomplete.

Bringing together artists, architects, writers, designers, and cultural theorists, we propose alternative methods of spatial research, uncover hidden histories, and reveal how social, economic, and cultural conditions become inscribed into the everyday landscape.

Andrea is an architectural designer from Mexico City. She holds a Master’s in Architecture from Yale University and a B.Arch with distinction from SCI-Arc, where she received the Thesis Merit Prize. In 2020, Andrea founded Autonomous Construction [AC], a multi-focus design practice based in LA & Mexico City. AC explores built, written, and temporal projects through a continuous loop of research, conceptual work, and fabrication. Some recent studio projects include The Monobloc Archive and The Taxonomy of unscripted living, which documents “informality” in rural Mexico.

Signe’s practice explores reassembly, material utopias, and in-between spaces. She is co-founder of BASA Atelier, a collaborative architecture, art, and research studio based between CDMX, New York, the Dominican Republic, and London. Trained at Yale and Brown in architecture, her work spans material science, performance, community fieldwork, collective organization, land art and stewardship, architecture, set design, sculpture, and furniture. Her independent research explores memorial and memory through “climate metronomes,” alongside methodologies for preserving serious play and appreciating the mundane.

Renée is a designer, curator, and writer working between Mexico City and New York. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, her practice is grounded in transforming everyday materials into considered, poetic forms. As Founder and Director of El Patio, a multidisciplinary cultural center and artist studio space in Mexico City, Renée’s work bridges conceptual development with practical execution. Whether through objects, exhibitions, publications, or community platforms, she seeks to create environments where poetry and structure coexist and where art becomes a shared, lived experience.

Ana is a Dominican-born architect, designer, and co-founder of BASA, trained at the Savannah College of Art and Design (BFA) and Yale University (M.Arch). Grounded in material research, craft, and myth, her practice spans architecture, furniture, surrealist objects, and land art. By treating native Dominican resources as cultural and ecological agents rather than commodities, she crafts ritualistic forms occupying a liminal space between the functional and symbolic, charged with memory, identity, and narrative weight.
